Lockheed Martin delivers first TR-3 F-35 aircraft

The F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) and Lockheed Martin have announced the commencement of deliveries for the first Technology Refresh-3 (TR-3) configured F-35 aircraft. Two F-35A Lightning II aircraft were delivered, with one going to Dannelly Field, Alabama, and the other to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

Lt. Gen. Mike Schmidt, the JPO’s Program Executive Officer, stated that the phased approach to delivery of TR-3 F-35 aircraft has begun, with the initial training capability being delivered in July and August. By the end of August, aircraft with robust combat training capability will be delivered, with the goal of full TR-3 combat capabilities by 2025.

Bridget Lauderdale, vice president and general manager of the F-35 Program at Lockheed Martin, emphasized the critical evolution in capability represented by TR-3 and Block 4, highlighting their continued priority for development. Lauderdale also indicated that further software updates over the program's lifespan will ensure the F-35's effectiveness as a deterrent and cornerstone of joint all-domain operations.

The press release further expressed pride in the collaborative effort of the government and industry teams in bringing about the delivery of TR-3 configured F-35s. Lt. Gen. Mike Schmidt underlined the significance of this initial step and the team's commitment to achieving the necessary results for warfighters, allies, and customers.

These developments mark a significant milestone in the ongoing evolution and enhancement of the F-35 program, signaling a continued focus on providing advanced capabilities to meet the needs of defense forces and partners. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved -0.2%, and are now trading at a price of $474.92. For more information, read the company's full 8-K submission here.
