Meta Platforms Announces New Board Members

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has announced the appointment of three new members to its board of directors: Dana White, President and CEO of UFC; John Elkann, CEO of Exor; and Charlie Songhurst, a technology investor. These appointments are expected to bring a wealth of expertise and perspective to the company as it focuses on AI, wearables, and the future of human connection.

Dana White, who leads UFC, a globally popular and valuable sports property, will be joining Meta's board. Under White's leadership, UFC has become a global sports powerhouse, producing over 40 live events annually and broadcasting to more than 975 million households across 170 countries.

John Elkann, the CEO of Exor, one of the largest European investment companies, has also been elected to Meta's board. Elkann's professional journey includes leading the successful turnaround of the Fiat Group, which later merged with Chrysler to form Stellantis. He is known for establishing Exor with a focus on "building great companies" and has also been investing in early* and late-stage ventures globally.

Additionally, Charlie Songhurst, a technology investor with extensive experience in enterprise SaaS, AI, and deep tech, will be joining Meta's board. Songhurst has been involved in over 500 startup investments globally and previously served as the General Manager and Head of Global Corporate Strategy at Microsoft.

These new appointments come as Meta continues to focus on building the future of human connection and the technology that enables it. The company, which has evolved beyond 2D screens to immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality, aims to shape the next evolution in social technology.

These new board members will join existing members such as Mark Zuckerberg, Peggy Alford, Marc L. Andreessen, and others, to contribute their expertise to Meta's strategic direction and growth. Today the company's shares have moved -3.0% to a price of $611.13. For the full picture, make sure to review Meta Platforms's 8-K report.
