Principal Financial Group Names Joel Pitz CFO

Principal Financial Group (Nasdaq: PFG) has appointed Joel Pitz as its new executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective immediately. Pitz, who has had a 30-year tenure with Principal, is stepping into this role after serving as the interim CFO since August 2024. Prior to this, he held the position of senior vice president and controller at Principal.

In his previous role as the CFO for international businesses, Pitz oversaw global finance and strategy for emerging market operations. With a strong background in financial leadership, including serving as the chief accounting officer, Pitz brings extensive experience in successfully aligning financial strategy to business goals.

Pitz succeeds Deanna Strable, who was named president and chief operating officer in August 2024 and president and chief executive officer in January 2025.
