UniFirst Corp Consolidates Reporting Segments

UniFirst Corporation has announced a significant change in its segment reporting structure, resulting in corresponding changes to its financial operating and reportable segments. The company has consolidated its previous five reporting segments into three, reflecting its current oversight and management of the business.

The new reporting segments are as follows:

  1. Uniform & Facility Service Solutions: This segment consolidates the former U.S. and Canadian Rental and Cleaning, Manufacturing, and Corporate segments, and now includes cleanroom solutions previously part of the Specialty Garments reporting segment. It designs, manufactures, purchases, rents, cleans, delivers, and sells uniforms, protective clothing, and non-garment items in the U.S. and Canada.

  2. First Aid & Safety Solutions: This segment sells first aid cabinet services, non-prescription medicines, safety supplies, and provides certain safety training.

  3. Other: This segment consists of nuclear solutions, previously part of the Specialty Garments reporting segment, and purchases, rents, cleans, delivers, and sells specialty garments and non-garment items primarily for nuclear applications.

The key measures used by management to evaluate segment performance continue to be revenues and operating income. Adjusted EBITDA is also presented for additional informational purposes to facilitate period-to-period comparisons of operating performance.

To assist investors in understanding the impact of these changes, the company has provided recast supplemental unaudited information containing seven quarters of historical financial and operational metrics (from the first quarter of fiscal 2024 through the third quarter of fiscal 2025) for the three reportable segments.

The modifications had no impact on the company’s previously reported consolidated financial results.
