Centrus Energy Taps Geiger Brothers for Uranium Plant Expansion

Centrus Energy has picked Geiger Brothers, Inc. to serve as the construction contractor for its uranium enrichment plant expansion in Piketon, Ohio, adding a second major builder to the multi-billion-dollar project alongside Fluor Corporation, which remains the engineering, procurement and construction contractor.

The move gives Centrus a split structure: Fluor is handling engineering, design, project management, supply chain activities and procurement, while Geiger Brothers will handle construction work on the ground in Ohio. Centrus said the arrangement is intended to create efficiencies and could help mitigate some project costs.

Geiger Brothers brings more than 100 years of experience and a workforce based in Ohio. The company was founded in 1909 and is headquartered in Jackson, Ohio. It has previously worked with Centrus on the existing HALEU cascade and on an earlier LEU demonstration cascade completed in 2013.

The expansion is designed to add thousands of AC100M centrifuges at Centrus’ American Centrifuge Plant. Centrus said the project will support its $2.3 billion commercial LEU backlog and provide at least 12 metric tons per year of HALEU production capacity.

Centrus also said centrifuge manufacturing for the expansion began in December 2025 at its Oak Ridge, Tennessee plant. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved 0.03%, and are now trading at a price of $193.31. If you want to know more, read the company's complete 8-K report here.
