Expedia appoints Derek Andersen as new CFO

Expedia Group appointed Derek Andersen as chief financial officer, effective May 11, 2026, replacing Scott Schenkel, who will remain through the company’s first-quarter earnings call on May 7 and depart May 16.

Schenkel held the CFO role for 16 months, a period the company said included strengthening its financial foundation and supporting margin expansion.

Andersen most recently served as CFO of Snap from May 2019 through April 2026. Before that, he was vice president of finance at Snap starting in July 2018. His Amazon tenure ran from March 2011 to June 2018, including vice president of finance for Amazon’s digital video business. He also held senior finance roles at Fox Interactive Media.

The company said Andersen will be based in Seattle and will lead Expedia Group’s global finance organization, reporting to CEO Ariane Gorin.

Expedia Group said its ecosystem includes three consumer brands — Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo — along with a large B2B travel business and an advertising network. It said it operates in more than 70 countries. As a result of these announcements, the company's shares have moved -1.45% on the market, and are now trading at a price of $232.84.
