Ambarella, Inc. recently released its 10-Q report. The company develops low-power system-on-chip semiconductors and software for edge and physical AI applications, with products built around its CVflow architecture and related video, image, audio, and control functions. It sells these chips and software modules into automotive, IoT, security, industrial, robotics, and other applications through direct sales and distributors, with operations across Asia, Europe, and North America.
In Item 2, management said revenue for the three months ended April 30, 2026 rose 16.9% to $100.4 million from the same period a year earlier. The increase was driven mainly by higher product unit shipments and a larger mix of higher-average-selling-price AI inference processors, partly offset by lower nonrecurring engineering project service revenue.
Operating loss narrowed to $19.4 million from $25.9 million a year earlier. Management said the improvement reflected higher gross profit tied to revenue growth, though operating expenses also increased because of higher payroll-related costs from added headcount, higher engineering spending on chips in development, and higher marketing expense.
Cash used in operating activities was $25.6 million, compared with $14.8 million of cash generated in the prior-year quarter. The swing was mainly tied to working-capital outflows, especially increased inventory purchases, despite better operating results.
During the quarter, the company repurchased 47,798 shares for about $2.4 million. As of April 30, 2026, about $45.6 million remained available under the repurchase program, which runs through June 30, 2026.
Management said future revenue growth depends heavily on design wins in AI and computer vision markets, especially in IoT, automotive, industrial, and robotics. It also said research and development spending is expected to rise as the company pushes new AI inference SoCs and expands into applications such as ADAS, driver monitoring, blind spot detection, object detection, and robotics. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved 2.83%, and are now trading at a price of $77.8102. For the full picture, make sure to review AMBARELLA INC's 10-Q report.
