Alaska Air Group has added Mike Sievert to its board of directors, bringing in the former T-Mobile chief executive as the company expands its leadership bench.
Sievert’s resume centers on a sharp rise in company value. During his run as CEO of T-Mobile, the wireless carrier’s market value climbed from about $60 billion to about $260 billion, a gain of roughly $200 billion. The company said T-Mobile’s market value was below $10 billion when Sievert joined in 2012 as chief marketing officer.
The appointment lifts Alaska Air Group’s board to 10 independent director seats. CEO Ben Minicucci remains on the board as a non-independent director.
Sievert will serve on the Innovation and Safety committees. He is also a board member at Starbucks and has lived in the Seattle area since 2002.
Alaska Air Group said its airline network now reaches more than 140 destinations across North America, Latin America, Asia, the Pacific and Europe, with hubs in Seattle, Honolulu, Portland, Anchorage, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. Today the company's shares have moved -2.13% to a price of $42.975. For the full picture, make sure to review ALASKA AIR GROUP, INC.'s 8-K report.
