Clarivate Appoints Simon Webster as President of IP Segment

Clarivate named Simon Webster president of its intellectual property segment, effective June 10, replacing Maroun S. Mourad, who will leave at the end of September after a transition period.

Webster is returning to a business he once led: he was chief executive of CPA Global from 2015 to 2021, before CPA Global was sold to Clarivate in 2020. More recently, he served as group CEO of Vistra from 2022 to 2025, where he oversaw a $6.5 billion merger with Tricor.

The company said its IP segment remains central to its value-creation plan and reiterated its full-year 2026 outlook, which it had already given on April 29.

Clarivate’s IP business spans IP management software, patent services, patent intelligence, brand IP solutions and litigation intelligence. Webster said the segment’s combination of data, software and workflow tools positions it to deliver value across the innovation lifecycle.

Mourad’s departure comes after what Clarivate described as a period of strategic, financial and operational progress in the segment. The company did not disclose any changes to its financial guidance in connection with the leadership switch. As a result of these announcements, the company's shares have moved -2.41% on the market, and are now trading at a price of $2.3812.
