Trilogy Metals said field crews have mobilized to the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects in northwestern Alaska and that the 2026 summer exploration season is now underway, with drilling set to begin June 15 and continue into September.
The company said the season’s plan includes about 40 drill holes totaling a minimum of roughly 5,400 meters at the Arctic project, aimed at waste rock storage and tailings footprint areas to support mine design, infrastructure placement and permitting. Some of those holes will be deepened to test targets along the Arctic mineral horizon, including airborne electromagnetic anomalies located 3 to 4 kilometers from the deposit.
At Bornite, crews are re-establishing the camp this season in preparation for a larger exploration and development push in 2027. Trilogy said the broader program also includes regional target assessments across a 100-kilometer VMS belt that hosts about 30 known historic occurrences and electromagnetic anomalies.
The Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects cover about 190,929 hectares and include the Arctic and Bornite deposits. Trilogy said Arctic is estimated to average about 5% copper equivalent, while Bornite is projected to yield 1.9 billion pounds of copper over a 17-year mine life.
Trilogy also announced that Ron Rimelman has been appointed president of Ambler Metals, the 50/50 joint venture company with South32 that holds the projects. Rimelman previously served as senior director, permitting, and will now lead the joint venture through final mine permits and a future construction decision. As a result of these announcements, the company's shares have moved 0.13% on the market, and are now trading at a price of $3.945.
