Build-A-Bear Workshop names Chris Hurt CEO

Build-A-Bear Workshop completed its planned chief executive succession on June 11, 2026, naming Chris Hurt CEO after more than 11 years with the company. Hurt most recently served as chief operations and experience officer.

The leadership change follows Sharon Price John’s 13-year run as CEO. She remains on the board of directors.

The company also expanded two executive roles immediately. Voin Todorovic, already chief financial officer, added the title of chief administrative officer, giving him enterprise-wide administrative oversight alongside financial leadership. Dave Henderson, formerly chief revenue officer, was promoted to chief growth officer, with responsibility shifting toward long-term global growth, revenue diversification and strategic expansion.

Build-A-Bear said the leadership changes are meant to support disciplined financial management, operational efficiency and growth across channels and markets.

The company ended fiscal 2025 with $529.8 million in total revenues, marking its fifth straight year of record results. It operates more than 650 company-owned, partner-operated and franchise locations across more than 30 countries. The market has reacted to these announcements by moving the company's shares -1.74% to a price of $33.30. For the full picture, make sure to review BUILD-A-BEAR WORKSHOP INC's 8-K report.
