Solid Power added Uwe Breitweg to its board of directors effective July 1, 2026, bringing in a BMW executive with more than 20 years of automotive leadership focused on battery strategy, powertrain development and vehicle engineering.
Breitweg currently serves as vice president of powertrain, emission and battery strategy at BMW Group, a role he has held since 2021. Before that, he was vice president of powertrain systems industrial customers from 2016 to 2021.
The appointment was made under BMW Holding B.V.’s director nomination rights, underscoring the company’s continued strategic relationship with Solid Power. Solid Power said the move adds deeper automotive and battery strategy expertise to its board as it works with automotive and cell manufacturing partners.
The company also noted that John Van Scoter, its president and CEO, thanked Dr. Feurer for his service and contributions during his board tenure.
