Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Appoints Joshua Chien as Independent Director

Alpha and Omega Semiconductor appointed Joshua Chien as an independent director, effective July 8, 2026, expanding its board with an executive whose recent track record includes more than fourfold revenue growth at SMTC Corporation.

Chien is currently executive vice president, product and strategy officer at Sonatus, where he works in a fractional executive role through his advisory firm, Deonow. From 2021 to April 2026, he served as chief commercial officer at SMTC, overseeing sales, marketing, account management and Asia operations. Before that, he was senior vice president of global sales and marketing at SMTC from 2014 to 2020.

Earlier in his career, Chien spent 14 years at Sanmina, from 2000 to 2014, including as vice president of global strategic business development and customer service. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed Harvard Business School’s finance for executives program.

The appointment comes as Alpha and Omega continues to position itself around power semiconductors, including power MOSFETs, silicon carbide, gallium nitride, IGBTs, power management ICs and modules, with products aimed at data centers, AI servers, smartphones, automotive electronics and industrial applications. As a result of these announcements, the company's shares have moved -1.11% on the market, and are now trading at a price of $37.56.
