Pennsylvania American Water said the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved its rate adjustment request, authorizing an annual revenue increase of about $74.9 million.
The company said the increase is intended to fund infrastructure work, including replacement of aging pipes and equipment, expansion of PFAS treatment and continued removal of lead service lines.
Pennsylvania American Water serves more than 2.5 million people across the commonwealth. The company said the commission’s decision also reflects a continued emphasis on affordability and customer assistance.
In its statement, the company pointed to its work in distressed systems across the state, including bringing drinking water service to Dimock and serving as receiver for Rock Spring Water Company and East Dunkard Water Authority. The PUC chairman cited those efforts as part of the record supporting the rate case.
The utility said it will release additional details on customer bill impacts and implementation after it receives the order and completes its review. Today the company's shares have moved 1.15% to a price of $135.88. For the full picture, make sure to review American Water Works's 8-K report.
