ASP Isotopes Partners with Texas A&M for Uranium Conversion

ASP Isotopes said its Quantum Leap Energy subsidiary has signed a research agreement with the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station to advance uranium conversion technology, a move aimed at commercial production of high-purity uranium hexafluoride, or UF6.

The company said the work is focused on collecting physicochemical data on the conversion of yellowcake uranium, or U3O8, into UF6, the feedstock used in uranium enrichment. ASP said the project is intended to improve production efficiency, lower costs and improve scalability for domestic uranium conversion.

The agreement comes as the United States has one operating commercial uranium conversion facility, according to the company. ASP framed the partnership as part of an effort to strengthen the domestic nuclear fuel supply chain and reduce reliance on foreign sources.

Quantum Leap Energy said the collaboration is designed to support process design, modeling, scale-up activities and optimization of production pathways. It said the research should generate data that could improve conversion efficiency from U3O8 to UF6 and support commercialization of its conversion technology.

The company also said the partnership with Texas A&M reinforces its broader push across the nuclear fuel cycle, including uranium conversion, uranium enrichment, lithium isotope separation and radioactive waste treatment technologies. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved 6.3%, and are now trading at a price of $4.135. If you want to know more, read the company's complete 8-K report here.
