Naver, Nvidia and Brookfield said they plan to expand Korea’s sovereign AI factory buildout from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts by 2028, more than tripling the initial scale announced last month.
The planned expansion would push Naver’s AI infrastructure toward a longer-term target of 1 gigawatt. The 200-megawatt facility is slated for Naver’s Gak Sejong hyperscale data center in Sejong, South Korea.
The companies said Nvidia plans to invest $1 billion into Naver Corp., while Brookfield plans to fund up to $9 billion for AI infrastructure. Naver will cover the remaining financing needs for the project.
Brookfield said it manages about $100 billion of assets across the AI infrastructure value chain, including data centers, compute, semiconductor manufacturing and dedicated power generation.
Naver said it recorded sales of KRW 12.04 trillion, or $8.18 billion, in 2025.
The expanded AI factory is expected to use Nvidia’s Vera Rubin and Blackwell platforms and is intended to support emerging AI companies with production-scale compute for building and deploying models, agents and AI services. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved 1.4%, and are now trading at a price of $46.35. For more information, read the company's full 8-K submission here.
