Independent Bank Corporation appointed Nathan E. Tagg to the boards of Independent Bank Corporation, Independent Bank, and Highpoint Community Bank, effective July 21, 2026.
Tagg, who previously served on the boards of HCB Financial Corp. and Highpoint Community Bank before those entities were acquired by Independent Bank Corporation on July 1, 2026, was also named to the holding company’s audit committee.
The appointment adds a director with legal and governance experience. Tagg has been a partner at Tripp, Tagg & Storrs since 2009 and has served as chair of the Spectrum Health Pennock board of directors and co-chair of the Spectrum Health Pennock hospital merger committee. He has also served on the Barry Community Foundation’s investment and governance committees, as treasurer of the Barry County Bar Association, and was appointed by former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder to the state board of auctioneers.
Independent Bank Corporation said it has total assets of approximately $6.3 billion and operates 66 locations across Michigan’s lower peninsula.
