KBR, Inc. recently released its 10-Q report. The Houston-based company provides science, technology, engineering and logistics support to government and commercial customers, with operations centered on Government Solutions and Sustainable Technology Solutions. Its work includes defense systems engineering, space and cyber programs, supply chain and program management, and proprietary process technologies tied to ammonia, syngas, refining and circular-economy applications.
In the quarter, KBR reported revenue of $1.984 billion, up 2% from $1.952 billion a year earlier. Gross profit rose 1% to $293 million, while operating income fell 11% to $172 million, reflecting $31 million of spin-off costs and other charges tied to the planned separation of Mission Technology Solutions. Net income attributable to KBR increased 32% to $96 million from $73 million, helped by a $50 million swing in discontinued operations, which moved to a $2 million gain from a $48 million loss.
The revenue increase came mainly from engineering and professional services in the Sustainable Technology Solutions segment, partly offset by lower contingent activity in the European command within Mission Technology Solutions. Selling, general and administrative expense declined 2% to $143 million. Interest expense fell 15% to $35 million, driven by lower average outstanding debt principal.
Management said HomeSafe, KBR’s 72%-owned joint venture with Tier One Relocation, had its role in the Global Household Goods Contract unexpectedly terminated on June 18, 2025, and that all HomeSafe operations ceased as of July 3, 2026. HomeSafe’s results are now shown as discontinued operations in the company’s financial statements.
KBR also said it is preparing to spin off Mission Technology Solutions into a separate publicly traded company, targeting completion on January 4, 2027. The company said the business is not classified as held for sale and remains in continuing operations. The market has reacted to these announcements by moving the company's shares -5.22% to a price of $34.055. For the full picture, make sure to review KBR, INC.'s 10-Q report.
