Twist Bioscience Corp Reports 23% Revenue Growth

Twist Bioscience reported third-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of $118.4 million, up 23% from $96.1 million a year earlier and marking its 14th straight quarter of sequential growth.

DNA synthesis and protein solutions revenue rose 39% to $56.6 million from $40.8 million in the prior-year quarter, and increased 6% from $53.3 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2026. NGS applications revenue climbed 12% to $61.8 million from $55.3 million a year earlier and rose 8% sequentially from $57.4 million.

Gross margin improved to 52.8% from 51.6% in the prior quarter. Cost of revenues increased to $55.9 million from $44.8 million a year earlier.

Research and development spending was flat at $18.0 million, while selling, general and administrative expenses jumped to $80.7 million from $63.4 million in the same quarter last year.

The company posted a net loss of $35.1 million, or $0.56 per diluted share, compared with net income of $20.4 million, or $0.33 per diluted share, a year earlier. The prior-year quarter included a $48.8 million gain from the spinout of Atlas Data Storage.

Adjusted EBITDA was a loss of $11.3 million, wider than the $8.0 million loss in the same quarter a year ago.

Twist ended the quarter with about $167 million in cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments.

Customer shipments increased to about 2,650 in the quarter from about 2,480 a year earlier. The company physically shipped about 369,000 genes, up from about 237,000 in the prior-year period.

For fiscal 2026, Twist raised revenue guidance to $456 million to $457 million, up $12 million at the midpoint, and reiterated expectations for fourth-quarter adjusted EBITDA breakeven.
