Olema Oncology appointed Jason O’Byrne as chief financial officer as the company moves toward pivotal data from its OPERA-01 study and a potential first commercial launch.
O’Byrne arrives from Vir Biotechnology, where he served as executive vice president and CFO, and previously held the CFO role at Caribou Biosciences. At Caribou, he helped lead the company’s initial public offering. Before that, he was senior vice president of finance at Audentes Therapeutics, where he oversaw financial due diligence and integration tied to Astellas Pharma’s $3 billion acquisition of the company. He also spent more than a decade in finance leadership roles at Genentech and Roche.
The company said O’Byrne’s background spans corporate strategy, capital markets, business development, financial management and operations. Olema also highlighted its “strong balance sheet” as it prepares for multiple milestones.
Olema’s lead candidate, palazestrant, is in two phase 3 trials. Its second program, OP-3136, is in a phase 1 study. The company said it is advancing toward what could be its first commercial launch. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved -0.86%, and are now trading at a price of $10.35. For more information, read the company's full 8-K submission here.
