L3Harris Technologies named Sam Mehta president and chief executive officer and a member of the board, effective immediately, replacing Christopher Kubasik, who stepped down as chairman, CEO and board member.
Lewis Hay III, the company’s lead independent director, was appointed independent chairman of the board.
The leadership changes also moved Lauren Barnes, previously president of Spectrum Superiority, into the role of president of Space & Mission Systems, and Christopher Aebli, formerly president of Mission Critical Communications, into the role of president of Communications & Spectrum Dominance.
Mehta had been running the company’s two largest segments, Space & Mission Systems and Communications & Spectrum Dominance, since March 2026. Those two businesses account for more than 80% of L3Harris’ total revenue.
The company said it remains committed to its previously announced $3 billion capital buildout to expand solid rocket motor production and strengthen its supply chain.
L3Harris also reaffirmed its 2026 targets for consolidated revenue, organic growth, segment operating margin, GAAP earnings per share and free cash flow.
Kubasik’s departure followed an internal investigation into conduct the company said was inconsistent with its code of conduct. The company said the conduct was unrelated to financial reporting, controls, customer relationships or operational performance. The market has reacted to these announcements by moving the company's shares -3.44% to a price of $281.77. For the full picture, make sure to review L3HARRIS TECHNOLOGIES, INC. /DE/'s 8-K report.
