Universal Health Services Acquires Talkspace

Universal Health Services completed its acquisition of Talkspace on Aug. 17, 2026, combining UHS’s network of more than 380 inpatient behavioral health facilities, 30 inpatient acute care facilities and about 170 outpatient and other locations with Talkspace’s virtual behavioral health platform.

Talkspace said its services reach more than 200 million people through health plans, employers, employee assistance programs, schools and government organizations. It operates across all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico and works with about 6,000 licensed providers.

UHS said it had about $17.4 billion in annual revenue in 2025 and employed more than 101,500 people. The company said the acquisition creates a full continuum of behavioral healthcare, linking virtual care, outpatient programs, crisis intervention, inpatient treatment and specialized care.

The deal was first announced on March 9, 2026 and closes after receiving regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. The companies said they will begin integrating operations immediately.

Talkspace also highlighted its AI-powered mental health guide, Tee, which it said was recently introduced and is available to subscribers for real-time support and feedback.
