Copart added David J. Berger to its board of directors, effective Aug. 13, 2026.
Berger, 67, is a senior partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he has practiced since 1989 and has been a partner for more than 20 years. His background centers on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and shareholder activism. He has also held leadership roles at the firm, including service on its board of directors, chair of its policy committee, and board member of its venture capital fund.
He has been president of the American College of Governance Counsel since May 2023 and serves as a director of the Long-Term Stock Exchange, where he chairs the nominating and governance committee. Since 2023, he has also served as co-chair of the annual Rome Conference on AI, Ethics and Governance at the Vatican and as a director of several nonprofit organizations.
Copart CEO Jay Adair said Berger’s experience in corporate governance, M&A, and complex litigation will be valuable as the company continues to grow.
Copart said it was founded in 1982 and now operates over 250 locations in 11 countries. The company connects vehicle consignors to about 1 million members in more than 185 countries and sold more than 4 million units in the last year.
