Regenxbio Adds Greg Ciongoli to Board

Regenxbio added Greg Ciongoli to its board of directors on Aug. 25, 2026, while two long-serving directors stepped down.

Ciongoli joins as the company lines up multiple late-stage pipeline catalysts and prepares to expand into a global commercial organization. He is the founder and managing partner of Adiumentum Capital Management and previously spent more than 16 years at the Baupost Group, where he was a partner in public group investing.

At the same time, Jerry Karabelas, who had served as an independent director since 2015, and Jean Bennett, who had served since 2021, retired from the board.

The board change reduces the number of departing directors by two and adds one new member, creating a net decrease of one seat among the named changes announced in the release.

Ciongoli currently serves as chairman of Atara Biotherapeutics and as a director of Zymeworks. His prior board experience includes Idenix Pharmaceuticals, Intarcia Therapeutics, Keryx Pharmaceuticals, Orexigen Therapeutics and Translate Bio.

Regenxbio said the appointment is aimed at adding financial, strategic and capital-allocation experience as it advances a late-stage gene-therapy pipeline that includes RGX-202 for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, surabgene lomparvovec for wet AMD and diabetic retinopathy, RGX-121 for MPS II and RGX-111 for MPS I. As a result of these announcements, the company's shares have moved 2.47% on the market, and are now trading at a price of $9.13. For more information, read the company's full 8-K submission here.
