Hecla Mining said it sold its Hecla Quebec subsidiary, which owned the Casa Berardi mine, on March 25, 2026, for total consideration valued at $385.7 million, or $602.2 million on an undiscounted basis. The deal brought in $170.0 million in cash at closing, $16.6 million in working-capital receivables, 65.8 million Orezone Gold shares valued at $106.1 million, $57.1 million of deferred cash consideration, and $35.9 million of contingent consideration.
The company said it used the cash proceeds to reduce debt and strengthen the balance sheet. It also said the sale shifts its portfolio more heavily toward silver assets and leaves Casa Berardi out of its reportable segments.
Hecla’s realized metal prices moved sharply higher in 2025 for silver and gold. Silver averaged $45.25 an ounce, up from $28.58 in 2024 and $23.33 in 2023. Gold averaged $3,541 an ounce, compared with $2,417 in 2024 and $1,936 in 2023. Zinc edged up to $1.39 a pound from $1.37 and $1.35. Lead slipped to $0.94 a pound from $0.97 and $1.03.
Market prices also rose. Silver’s average market price climbed to $39.94 an ounce from $28.24 in 2024 and $23.39 in 2023. Gold’s average market price increased to $3,435 from $2,387 and $1,943. Zinc averaged $1.30 a pound, versus $1.26 and $1.20. Lead averaged $0.89, down from $0.94 and $0.97.
Copper was reported for the first time in the table for 2024 and 2025, with a realized average price of $4.75 a pound in 2025 versus $4.20 in 2024. The market average was $4.51, up from $4.15.
