IonQ named two new directors to its board, adding technology finance veteran Dr. Eric Ball and Timothy Baxter, former chairman of SkyWater Technology and ex-CEO of Samsung North America.
Ball brings nearly 40 years in senior finance roles at companies including AT&T, Cisco, Flextronics and Oracle, where he spent 10 years as senior vice president and treasurer. At Oracle, he arranged $52 billion of financing and worked on more than 100 acquisitions.
Baxter joins after serving as chairman of SkyWater Technology until its recently completed acquisition by IonQ. He has more than 40 years of experience across AT&T, Sony and Samsung, and helped launch technologies including 5G, HDTV and Blu-ray.
IonQ said the board additions are aimed at supporting its next phase of expansion as it pushes toward rapid scalability in quantum computing manufacturing and further integration of its platform. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved -7.68%, and are now trading at a price of $39.20. For more information, read the company's full 8-K submission here.
