Civista Bancshares Names New CEO, Shares Drop 1.67%

Civista Bancshares has completed its leadership transition, naming Charles A. “Chuck” Parcher as president and chief executive officer of both Civista Bancshares and Civista Bank, effective Aug. 31, 2026.

Parcher succeeds Dennis G. Shaffer, who retired as president and CEO after more than 40 years in banking. Shaffer will remain chairman of the board and continue serving on Civista’s board of directors.

The transition was first set in motion in January 2025, when Parcher was named president of Civista Bank and executive vice president of Civista Bancshares. Since then, he has taken on increasing responsibility for the company’s strategic direction and daily operations.

Parcher joined Civista in 2016 and brings 38 years of banking experience. Before that, he held leadership roles at FirstMerit, Sky Bank and Huntington Bank, overseeing commercial banking operations across Northwest Ohio, Southeast Michigan and Western Indiana.

Civista said Shaffer’s tenure was marked by stronger financial performance and a stronger capital position, while the bank continued to grow and preserve its independence. The company did not disclose financial results in the announcement, but it did highlight its current scale: a $4.3 billion financial holding company with 44 locations across Ohio, Southeastern Indiana and Northern Kentucky.

Civista Bank, founded in 1884, offers full-service banking, commercial lending, mortgage and wealth management services, along with commercial equipment leasing nationwide through its Civista Leasing and Finance Division. Today the company's shares have moved -1.67% to a price of $27.02. For the full picture, make sure to review CIVISTA BANCSHARES, INC.'s 8-K report.
