SoundHound AI completed its acquisition of LivePerson on Sept. 4, 2026, and said the deal immediately expands its enterprise reach to 25 of the Fortune 100 and adds a patent portfolio of more than 750 patents.
The combined company said it now has a debt-free balance sheet after retiring LivePerson’s outstanding debt at closing. SoundHound also said the enlarged customer base creates a path to more than $500 million in future revenue from existing customers alone.
The acquisition brings together LivePerson’s digital messaging infrastructure with SoundHound’s voice and agentic AI platform. SoundHound said LivePerson’s platform will be folded into Oasys, its orchestrated agent system, to create a single customer engagement platform across voice, web, mobile, SMS and social channels.
SoundHound also named John Collins chief financial officer of the combined company. Collins previously served as CFO, COO and interim CEO at LivePerson. SoundHound said he has led a shift from more than $100 million in annual cash burn to positive free cash flow in one year, overseen cost-reduction programs exceeding $200 million, and helped secure $227 million of debt discount through multi-year restructurings.
The company said Collins will focus on margin expansion, cost discipline and operational integration following the close. SoundHound said the deal is already under integration, with combined products set to roll out in coming quarters. As a result of these announcements, the company's shares have moved 0.0% on the market, and are now trading at a price of $6.74. For more information, read the company's full 8-K submission here.
