CME Group Announces Top Leadership Reshuffle

CME Group is reshuffling its top finance and legal ranks in a move that will take effect over the next several months.

Jack Tobin, the company’s chief accounting officer since 2015, will become chief financial officer in March 2027, when current President and CFO Lynne Fitzpatrick becomes CEO. To prepare for the transition, Tobin will take on the deputy CFO role in November 2026.

Matthew Render, who joined CME Group as deputy chief accounting officer in August 2026, will move up to chief accounting officer. Render previously worked in finance roles at Citadel, BP and Ernst & Young.

John Marchese has been promoted to general counsel, replacing Jonathan Marcus later this month. Marchese has been with CME Group since 2011 and most recently served as managing director and associate general counsel for litigation and information technology.

Tobin has been with CME Group since 2002, giving him 24 years at the company by the time he becomes CFO in 2027. Marchese has spent 15 years at the company. Render arrived just one month before the announcement and is now set for a rapid promotion into one of the company’s top accounting roles.

The leadership changes come as CME Group prepares for Fitzpatrick’s move from president and CFO to chief executive officer in March 2027. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved -0.67%, and are now trading at a price of $275.08. For the full picture, make sure to review CME GROUP INC.'s 8-K report.
