Clover Health added two directors to its board, filling both previously disclosed vacancies and expanding the board to nine members.
Former U.S. Senator Robert Torricelli and Dr. Brian J. Miller joined effective immediately. Torricelli will serve on the Audit Committee, while Miller will join the Clinical Committee.
Torricelli brings 20 years of congressional experience representing New Jersey in the House and Senate, including service on the Senate Finance Committee. He has also served on Clover’s insurance subsidiary board since 2022, giving him prior direct exposure to the company’s operations. Outside government, he founded Rosemont Associates and Woodrose Properties and previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Aveta, a healthcare services company.
Miller is a practicing hospitalist at Johns Hopkins Hospital and an associate professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also serves as vice chairman of the North Carolina State Health Plan board and as a commissioner on MedPAC. His background includes regulatory experience at CMS, the FDA and the FTC.
The appointments come as Clover continues to emphasize Medicare Advantage, its software platform Clover Assistant, and its broader push into physician enablement through Counterpart Health. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved -1.31%, and are now trading at a price of $4.51.
