Valley National Bancorp said it will buy Bluevine Inc. for about $340 million, using roughly 75% cash and 25% Valley stock.
Bluevine brings about $2.1 billion of low-cost, digitally sourced deposits to Valley. Valley said those deposits have been growing at about a 35% compound annual rate from 2023 through the second quarter of 2026, and roughly 99% of them come from non-borrowing customers.
Bluevine also adds scale on the customer side: about 175,000 active small business customers as of June 2026, and more than 415,000 businesses served since inception.
On the operating side, Valley said the deal adds about 180 research and development professionals and engineers, concentrated in Redwood City, Jersey City, Salt Lake City and Tel Aviv.
Financially, Valley said the acquisition is expected to be about 8% accretive to estimated 2028 earnings per share, while causing about 5% tangible book value dilution at closing. Valley expects an earn-back period of about 3 years.
The transaction is expected to close in early 2027. The market has reacted to these announcements by moving the company's shares 0.93% to a price of $13.08. If you want to know more, read the company's complete 8-K report here.
