IBM has elected Frank Baker to its board of directors, effective Oct. 1, 2026, adding a private-equity executive with deep technology-sector investing experience.
Baker, 53, is co-founder and managing partner of Siris Capital Group, where he oversees the firm’s portfolio and investment strategy. Siris says it has deployed more than $9 billion of equity capital since inception across technology, telecommunications, and data-focused companies.
Before founding Siris, Baker was a managing director at Ripplewood Holdings and started his career in mergers and acquisitions at Goldman Sachs. IBM said his appointment is intended to bring additional perspective as the company pursues enterprise-wide transformation through technology.
Baker’s background includes board and trustee roles at the University of Chicago, the Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center, and Deerfield Academy. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Chicago.
