ENNIS, INC. recently released its 10-Q report for the period ended August 31, 2026. Ennis, Inc. manufactures and sells business forms and related printed products in the United States, with most sales going through independent distributors and related resellers. Its product mix includes snap sets, continuous forms, labels, tags, envelopes, presentation folders, pressure-seal documents, and school photo marketing materials, and it operates about 50 manufacturing plants across 20 states.
In Item 2, management said the report should be read with the unaudited financial statements and the company’s fiscal 2026 Form 10-K. The company said the section contains forward-looking statements, including references to expected events, trends, and beliefs about future operations, and noted that results can differ because of risks such as recession concerns, inflation, tariffs, supply chain disruptions, raw material costs, labor costs, cybersecurity, customer credit risk, and competition. It also said it does not undertake a duty to update those statements.
Ennis described itself as a Texas company organized in 1909 that prints and manufactures a broad line of business products, with distribution primarily through independent distributors, commercial printers, direct mail firms, fulfillment companies, payroll and accounts payable software companies, and advertising agencies. Management said the company also sells to some competitors to meet end-customer demand. It said approximately 95% of the products it manufactures are custom or semi-custom items made to customer specifications.
The company said its business is concentrated in one reportable segment, printing services. It said its products are sold under a large number of brand names, including Ennis, Royal Business Forms, Block Graphics, ColorWorx, Enfusion, Uncompromised Check Solutions, VersaSeal, Ad Concepts, FormSource Limited, Star Award Ribbon Company, Witt Printing, Genforms, PrintGraphics, Calibrated Forms, PrintXcel, Printegra, Forms Manufacturers, Mutual Graphics, TRI-C Business Forms, Major Business Systems, Independent Printing, Hayes Graphics, Wright Business Graphics, Wright 360, Integrated Print & Graphics, the Flesh Company, AmeriPrint, Stylecraft, UMC Print, Eagle Graphics, Diamond Graphics, and Printing Technologies.
Management said the company’s business challenges include consolidation in traditional supply channels, product obsolescence, paper supplier capacity changes, raw material volatility, and shifting trade conditions. It said electronic distribution, digital printing, and print-on-demand alternatives continue to pressure demand for traditional printed documents. The company also said competition remains intense in an over-supplied market, with margins pressured by weak volumes, input-cost swings, and pricing pressure.
Ennis said it acquired CFC Print & Mail on November 14, 2025, and said CFC generated about $7.1 million in sales in the last full year before the deal. It said CFC serves a national distributor network with business-document printing and mailing services. Ennis also said it acquired Northeastern Envelope Company and Envelope Superstore on April 11, 2025, and said those businesses generated about $26.0 million in sales in the prior full year, adding envelope converting and printing capacity in the Northeast.
The company said it operates in a market where traditional business documents continue to decline in some areas, but it is adding products and services in envelopes, tags, folders, healthcare wristbands, specialty packaging, direct mail, pressure seal products, secure documents, in-mold labels, and long-run integrated high-color web print. It said it increased inventory as buffer stock after the only U.S. mill producing rolls of carbonless paper permanently stopped production, and said it has received shipments from alternative suppliers without disruption to customer service, product availability, or product quality. Today the company's shares have moved 0.04% to a price of $22.56. If you want to know more, read the company's complete 10-Q report here.
