Construction Partners Expands into West Texas

Construction Partners said it has acquired the asphalt manufacturing and construction assets of J.H. Strain & Sons, adding two hot-mix asphalt plants, related crews and equipment in the greater Abilene, Texas, market.

The deal expands the company’s Texas platform, Lone Star Paving, into west Texas and brings in more than 125 employees. The acquired operations are based in Tye, Texas, and will serve public and private infrastructure customers across the greater Abilene area.

Company CEO Fred J. Smith said the acquisition gives Lone Star a stronger local presence in a market he described as growing, with ongoing investment including several data center-related developments. He said the new assets include J.H. Strain’s two plants, fleet and workforce.

Construction Partners operates in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, with a focus on roadway construction, repair and maintenance. The market has reacted to these announcements by moving the company's shares 1.03% to a price of $91.08. For the full picture, make sure to review Construction's 8-K report.
