Synopsys said it has launched a $1 billion accelerated share repurchase program, a move that will immediately retire a sizable block of stock and continue through early January 2027.
Under the agreement, Synopsys will receive an initial delivery of about 1.735 million shares. Any remaining shares tied to the $1 billion buyback will be settled by Jan. 5, 2027, based on the average of the company’s daily volume-weighted average share price during the repurchase period, less a discount.
The company did not provide a prior buyback amount in the release, so the most concrete change from the last period is the new $1 billion authorization now being put to work. The initial 1.735 million-share delivery gives a first-step reduction in share count, with the final share total depending on trading prices over the buyback window. As a result of these announcements, the company's shares have moved -0.13% on the market, and are now trading at a price of $489.90.
