WillScot Holdings elected Donald Slager to its board of directors on Oct. 7, 2026, adding a former Republic Services chief executive to its leadership bench as part of its board refreshment process.
Slager, who led Republic Services as president and CEO from 2011 until his retirement in 2021, will serve as an independent director and join WillScot’s audit committee and compensation committee.
The appointment brings a director with more than a decade at the top of a public company and prior operating roles at Allied Waste, where he served as president and chief operating officer from 2005 to 2008 before the company’s merger with Republic. He also served on Republic’s board from 2010 to 2021.
WillScot said Slager currently sits on two other public company boards: Martin Marietta Materials and Eastman Chemical. At Martin Marietta, he is lead independent director, a member of the executive committee and nominating and corporate governance committee, and chair of the management development and compensation committee. At Eastman Chemical, he serves on the audit committee, finance committee and environmental, safety and sustainability committee.
The board change comes as WillScot continues to operate a network of about 240 branch locations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, serving construction, manufacturing, healthcare, government, energy and education customers with modular complexes, storage containers, blast-resistant buildings, clearspan structures, fencing, and furnishings and equipment. The market has reacted to these announcements by moving the company's shares 1.7% to a price of $17.36. Check out the company's full 8-K submission here.
