Artisan Partners AUM Declines to $168.7 Billion

Artisan Partners Asset Management ended September with $168.7 billion in assets under management, down from $172.8 billion at the end of August, a decline of $4.1 billion, or 2.4%.

The company’s fund business accounted for $90.2 billion of AUM at month-end, while separate accounts and other assets totaled $78.5 billion. In August, those figures were $92.0 billion and $80.8 billion, respectively, meaning funds fell by $1.8 billion and separate accounts and other assets declined by $2.3 billion.

By strategy, the largest category remained International Value at $55.0 billion, though it slipped from $56.2 billion in August. Global Value finished September at $32.2 billion, down from $33.3 billion. Non-U.S. Growth ended at $15.8 billion, compared with $16.2 billion a month earlier.

Several other large strategies also moved lower. High Income finished at $14.1 billion versus $14.5 billion in August. Global Opportunities fell to $11.9 billion from $12.2 billion. U.S. Mid-Cap Growth declined to $8.9 billion from $9.1 billion, while U.S. Small-Cap Growth was $2.7 billion, down from $2.8 billion.

On the smaller side, Global Discovery ended at $1.9 billion, essentially flat from $1.9 billion in August. Franchise was $963 million, down from $979 million. Global Equity was $394 million, compared with $403 million. International Explorer stood at $1.4 billion, up slightly from $1.3 billion.

Among fixed income and credit strategies, Credit Opportunities was $436 million, down from $460 million. Floating Rate fell to $305 million from $326 million. Custom Credit Solutions slipped to $1.5 billion from $1.6 billion.

Emerging-markets and global unconstrained strategies also softened. Global Unconstrained ended at $2.7 billion versus $2.8 billion in August. Emerging Markets Debt Opportunities was $1.6 billion, down from $1.7 billion, and Emerging Markets Local Opportunities was $2.0 billion, compared with $2.1 billion.

Grandview Property Partners finished at $378 million, after $380 million in August. Artisan also reported $508.8 million in aggregate for which it provides investment models to managed account sponsors.
