Caterpillar Announces Retirement of Denise Johnson; Derrick York to Take Over

Caterpillar said Denise Johnson, group president of Resource Industries, will retire effective Feb. 1, 2027, after leading the unit since 2016. Derrick York, currently president of Solar Turbines and a Caterpillar senior vice president, will take over as group president of Resource Industries on Nov. 1, 2026, with Johnson moving into an advisory role during the transition.

Johnson has been with Caterpillar since 2011 and was handed Resource Industries during a mining downturn in 2016. Under her leadership, Caterpillar said the segment returned to profitability and went on to deliver its strongest financial performance in more than a decade.

York has led Solar Turbines since 2023. He has spent 16 years at Caterpillar and previously served as senior vice president of the Oil & Gas and Marine division, with earlier roles in finance and corporate development.

Caterpillar said 2025 sales and revenues were $67.6 billion. The market has reacted to these announcements by moving the company's shares -3.08% to a price of $748.98. Check out the company's full 8-K submission here.
