Tractor Supply has acquired VIP Petcare, bringing the veterinary services business in-house and adding a larger clinic network to its pet care platform.
VIP Petcare operates community clinics in about 2,700 retail locations, including 1,700 Tractor Supply stores, across 39 states. The business serves more than 1 million pets a year and runs more than 60,000 community veterinary clinics annually through roughly 2,500 contracted veterinarians and 36 field offices.
For Tractor Supply, the deal expands a pet care stack that already includes its retail stores, Petsense and Allivet. The company said the acquisition ties together in-store veterinary clinics, 24/7 vet access and pharmacy capabilities across its nationwide footprint.
The scale of Tractor Supply’s store base gives the deal immediate reach: as of March 28, 2026, it operated 2,435 Tractor Supply stores in 49 states and 206 Petsense stores in 23 states. VIP Petcare’s presence in 1,700 of those Tractor Supply locations means the acquisition folds an established clinic partner directly into a network that already spans most of the country.
VIP Petcare’s services are positioned as lower-cost alternatives to traditional veterinary visits, with prices more than 50% below a standard vet appointment, according to the release. The business also offers preventive care including vaccines, diagnostic testing, flea, tick and heartworm prevention, deworming, microchipping and nail trimming.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The market has reacted to these announcements by moving the company's shares 3.2% to a price of $30.505. For the full picture, make sure to review TRACTOR SUPPLY CO /DE/'s 8-K report.
