QUINSTREET, INC recently released its 10-K report. QuinStreet is an online performance marketing company that provides customer acquisition services in the United States and abroad. Its business centers on delivering qualified clicks, leads, calls, applications, and customers through its own websites and third-party publishers, mainly for financial services and home services clients. It also offers the QuinStreet Rating Platform for insurance agents and CloudControlMedia, which provides performance marketing agency and technology services in financial services, education, and other markets.
In Item 7, management says the company’s core model is built around paying for media, running marketing programs in that media, and being compensated when it delivers qualified inquiries or completed customer transactions. The company says its financial objective is to grow revenue from sustainable sources while holding profitability at target levels, rather than maximizing short-term profit, and it describes its operations as focused on high-value, information-intensive verticals. Financial services accounted for 69% of net revenue in fiscal 2026 and 75% in fiscal 2025, while home services accounted for 31% and 25%, respectively; most revenue came from clients in the United States.
QuinStreet says its business depends heavily on access to high-quality targeted media at acceptable margins. It points to competition for media, consolidation among media sources, and search engine algorithm changes as recurring pressures, and says it has responded by improving segmentation, matching, transparency, and pricing, as well as by pursuing partnerships and acquisitions.
Acquisitions remain a central part of the company’s capital strategy. Management cites the January 2026 acquisition of HomeBuddy, the fiscal 2024 acquisitions of BestCompany and AquaVida, the fiscal 2021 acquisitions of Modernize, Mayo Labs, and FCE, and the fiscal 2019 acquisitions of AmOne, CCM, and MBT. The company also says it has expanded media access through takeovers of performance marketing functions for large web properties, backend monetization of unmatched traffic, white-label products, and growth in call center, native, email, mobile, and social traffic.
Seasonality affects results. QuinStreet says the quarter ended December 31 is typically weaker because media availability drops during the holiday period and some clients reduce budgets, while the quarter ended March 31 usually improves as media availability rises and new annual budgets begin. Home services revenue also follows seasonal demand, with spring and summer typically stronger than fall and winter.
Regulation is another source of fluctuation. The company says its revenue is affected by federal, state, and industry rules because it operates websites and conducts telemarketing and email marketing, and because clients may change spending in response to enforcement activity. It specifically points to the TCPA and evolving consent requirements for automated voice and text messages as factors that can alter client behavior and affect revenue and profitability.
For fiscal 2026, net revenue rose to $1.294 billion from $1.094 billion in fiscal 2025 and $613.5 million in fiscal 2024. Cost of revenue increased to $1.148 billion from $982.8 million and $567.3 million, leaving gross profit at $145.8 million, or 11.3% of revenue, compared with $110.9 million, or 10.1%, in fiscal 2025 and $46.2 million, or 7.5%, in fiscal 2024. Product development expense was $37.3 million in fiscal 2026, sales and marketing was $27.3 million, and general and administrative was $45.8 million. Following these announcements, the company's shares moved -1.44%, and are now trading at a price of $19.81. For more information, read the company's full 10-K submission here.
