Louisiana-Pacific said it will indefinitely curtail oriented strand board production at its Jasper, Texas, plant beginning in October 2026, as soft demand continues to pressure the market.
The Jasper facility has annual OSB capacity of about 475 million square feet on a 3/8-inch basis. LP said it made the decision after reviewing production needs across its manufacturing network and weighing operating costs, capital requirements, logistics and long-term asset use.
The move comes as the company aligns output with current demand conditions. CEO Jason Ringblom said the near-term OSB environment remains challenging, but that LP is taking action now to operate more efficiently and preserve flexibility if conditions improve.
LP said it will keep evaluating market conditions and may restart curtailed capacity if warranted.
The company also said it will provide job-search and career-transition support for Jasper employees and help them apply for open positions at other LP facilities. As a result of these announcements, the company's shares have moved -2.49% on the market, and are now trading at a price of $68.7525.
