Bread Financial reports higher net loss and delinquency rates in January 2024.

According to the update, for the month ended January 31, 2024, the end-of-period credit card and other loans stood at $18,785 million, reflecting a decrease from $20,837 million for the same period in 2023. The average credit card and other loans for January 2024 were $18,915 million, down 9% from $20,700 million in January 2023.

The net principal losses for January 2024 were reported at $128 million, compared to $115 million in January 2023, resulting in a net loss rate of 8.0% for January 2024, up from 6.7% in January 2023. The 30 days + delinquencies – principal for January 2024 were $1,170 million, an increase from $1,137 million in January 2023, leading to a delinquency rate of 6.8% for January 2024, up from 5.8% in January 2023.
